Insurance & Protection — Clear, Simple, No Surprises
We keep this straightforward so you can book confidently. Every reservation must meet insurance/protection requirements before pickup or setup. Stationary rentals (delivered & set up / not driven or towed by the renter) include the required coverage.
Most important takeaway
If your rental is Stationary (delivered & set up)
- Required coverage is included for stationary rentals
- Applies to both travel trailers and motorhomes used as stationary units
- No towing or driving by renter
If your rental is Self-Pickup
- Insurance/protection must be confirmed before pickup
- You’ll choose either our Protection option or an approved binder
- No confirmation = pickup cannot occur
Clear disclosure
Protection/insurance products may be provided by third parties depending on the option selected. Operation Recreation Camper Rentals does not sell insurance as an agent or broker.
Stationary Rentals (Delivered & Set Up)
Stationary rentals are delivered and set up at your location and remain there during the reservation. This option is designed for events, guest housing, and longer stays where the RV is not moved by the renter.
Included coverage
- Required coverage is included for stationary rentals
- Applies to travel trailers and motorhomes when used as stationary units
- No towing or driving by the renter
If your reservation changes from Stationary → Self-Pickup, the self-pickup requirements apply immediately.
What changes the requirements?
- If you tow the trailer yourself
- If you drive the motorhome yourself
- If the reservation is changed from delivery/stationary to pickup
Any of the above = your reservation is treated as Self-Pickup.
Self-Pickup (You Tow or You Drive)
For self-pickup reservations, insurance/protection must be completed and confirmed prior to pickup. We do this to protect you, the unit, and everyone on the road.
Option A: Select our Protection option at booking
This is the simplest option for most renters. You select the Protection option during booking and follow the instructions provided.
- No back-and-forth with your insurance agent
- Clear responsibility terms
- Faster pickup process
Option B: Provide a qualifying insurance binder
This is allowed, but it must meet the strict checklist below and be approved before pickup.
- Best for renters who already have commercial/rental coverage
- Approval required prior to pickup
- Missing items = not accepted
Damage Protection Package (Optional – Recommended)
Our Damage Protection Package is designed to help you book confidently by limiting your out-of-pocket exposure if accidental damage occurs during your rental, subject to the rental agreement terms and program requirements.
What it does
- Limits your maximum out-of-pocket responsibility for covered exterior damage to $1,000
- Charged per day for the length of your reservation
- Simple, clear process designed to reduce surprises
Final applicability and covered loss determination are subject to the rental agreement and any third-party claim approval if applicable.
What it does NOT cover
- Interior damage
- Misuse, neglect, or prohibited use
- Excluded claims or damages not approved for coverage
- Damage caused while violating towing/driving rules
If you’re unsure what’s allowed, ask before your trip — we’re happy to clarify.
Where you’ll see it
You’ll select this during booking under Protection Options on the unit page. The exact per-day amount may display after dates are selected (because the system calculates totals based on reservation length).
Insurance Binder Checklist (If you choose a binder for Self-Pickup)
Many personal auto/RV policies do not qualify for rental use. If any item below is missing, the binder will be rejected.
Binder must include ALL of the following, including Comp and Collision
- Issued as a binder or full declarations page (not an ID card, not a screenshot)
- Lists the specific unit: Year, Make, Model, and VIN
- Coverage dates fully span the entire rental period (start to end)
- Names Operation Recreation Camper Rentals LLC exactly as required (Additional Insured; Loss Payee if applicable)
- Shows liability limits meeting/exceeding state minimum requirement
- Shows Comprehensive and Collision coverage
- Does not exclude rental use / permissive use / business rental
Not accepted (common issues)
- Personal auto declarations page that does not list the rented RV by VIN
- Insurance ID cards
- App screenshots / “proof of insurance” without unit details
- Quotes, proposals, or “it should be covered” statements
- Any binder missing our company name exactly as required
- Any binder missing Comprehensive and Collision coverage
- Any policy that excludes rental use or does not allow use of a rented RV
If a binder is not approved before pickup, you will need to select an accepted protection option to proceed.
Where to send binder documents
Email your binder to insurance@operationrecreationaz.com. We recommend sending it at least 48 hours before pickup to avoid delays.
