On-Trip Help

Quick fixes for the most common “it won’t work” moments. Most issues are built-in safety interlocks and take under a minute to resolve.

Start Here

Before you panic: many items (awning, slides, power) won’t operate if a safety condition isn’t met. Use the search below, then follow the quick steps. If you’re still stuck — call or text us.

Tip: Try searching “slide”, “awning”, “power”, “AC”, “fridge”, “water”, or “generator”.

Emergency?

If there’s an accident, injury, fire, or immediate danger — call 911 first. Then contact us as soon as you can.

MOTORHOME The awning won’t extend / retract

This is almost always a safety interlock.

  • Turn the engine OFF and remove the key (some units disable awning with ignition on).
  • Confirm the house battery is ON (battery switch / disconnect).
  • If you’re on battery power, start the generator or plug into shore power to ensure enough voltage.
  • Try again while holding the button for 3–5 seconds (some controls need a steady press).

Still stuck? Send us a quick photo of the awning control panel so we can guide you fast.

MOTORHOME The slide won’t open / close

Motorhomes commonly require several safety conditions before slides operate.

  • Put the RV in PARK.
  • Set the parking brake.
  • Make sure the engine is OFF (some models require ignition off).
  • Confirm the house battery is ON and voltage is sufficient (plug in or start generator if needed).
  • Check that the step is fully retracted (some units interlock slides/steps).

If you hear a click but nothing moves, it’s often low voltage — plug into shore power or start the generator and try again.

MOTORHOME The RV won’t start / won’t crank
  • Confirm the shifter is fully in PARK (wiggle and re-seat it).
  • Check the chassis battery isn’t low (headlights dim = likely low).
  • Turn off big loads (A/C, microwave) and try again.
  • If there’s a battery boost switch, hold it while starting (if equipped).

If it still won’t crank, text us a quick video of the dash when you turn the key.

BOTH Outlets / microwave / A/C don’t work

Most “no power” issues are one of these:

  • You’re not connected to shore power and the generator is off.
  • A GFCI outlet tripped (press RESET on the GFCI).
  • A breaker tripped in the electrical panel (flip off then back on).

Quick check: If lights still work but outlets don’t, it’s usually shore power / generator / GFCI.

BOTH The generator won’t start
  • Make sure the fuel tank is above ¼ (many generators shut off below this level).
  • Hold the start switch for 3–5 seconds (some need a steady hold).
  • Turn off big loads (A/C, microwave) before starting.
  • Check the generator breaker (if equipped) and reset.

Text us a photo of the generator hours panel / controls if it still won’t run.

BOTH No water / water pump not working
  • If you’re connected to city water, the pump can be OFF — that’s normal.
  • If using the fresh tank, ensure the pump switch is ON and the tank has water.
  • Run a faucet for 10–20 seconds to purge air after switching sources.

If the pump runs but no water flows, a valve may be closed — contact us and we’ll walk you through your unit.

BOTH The fridge isn’t getting cold
  • Give it time: fridges can take 8–12 hours to fully cool.
  • Confirm it’s set to the correct mode (electric/auto/propane depending on unit).
  • If on electric, make sure you have shore power or generator running.

If it’s warm after 12 hours, text us a photo of the fridge control panel.

TRAVEL TRAILER Trailer lights / brakes aren’t working
  • Confirm the 7-pin plug is fully seated.
  • Make sure your brake controller is powered on and set correctly.
  • Check your vehicle fuses (common after a plug was partially connected).

If you’re unsure, stop and contact us — we’ll get you set safely.
